How the 2021 compares with nearby years

Against the 2020 Explorer: The oil filter and cabin air filter are the same in both manuals.

Against the 2022 Explorer: the oil filter and cabin air filter changed (FL-910-S+FL-2062-A+FL-500-S in 2022 vs FL-2062+FL-500-S in 2021; FP-97 in 2022 vs FP-89 in 2021).

The 2021 Explorer belongs to the 6th gen (U625), which began with the 2020 model year (MY2025 facelift: larger grille, sleeker headlights and taillights); generation dates. Parts often carry over within a generation, but the manual for your exact model year is the one to trust.

Shared with other 2021 models

A shared number means the same replacement part fits both cars, so one spare can cover two cars in the household.

What the manual does not print

The 2021 Ford Explorer owner's manual does not list oil sizes.

1 position is listed as LED in this manual. LED lamps have no separate replacement bulb; the lamp assembly is replaced.
